Speaker Bass Talks the Greening of the Capitol

(Sacramento) In this weeks Democratic address when we commemorated Earth Day, Speaker of the California State Assembly Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) talks about Assembly Bill 1327 , legislation she authored to establish a State Capitol Sustainability Task Force, which would develop and implement a State Capitol Sustainability Initiative to further the sustainability practices at the State Capitol Building, the Legislative Office Building, and the State Capitol Park grounds. As one of the state’s most historic and visible landmarks, the State Capitol presents a unique opportunity to showcase sustainable practices, demonstrate environmental leadership, and provide educational opportunities to its nearly 800,000 annual visitors.

AB 1327 tackles water and fuel use, conservation technologies, renewable energy and increasing the use of recycled content products, said Bass. Between the steps weve already taken and the steps well take under AB 1327, we hope this Golden Dome will soon be one of the greenest places in California.. This weeks Democratic address is 1:42.
